Username: march20 Password: home

• Go over sounds and tricky words in sound book.

• Make tricky word cards. Get an adult to hide them and try and find them!

• Practise writing words and tricky words with chalk, on big paper with different colour pens, paint etc!

Reception Writing challenge

In Class 1 we encourage independent writing.

While we will help by slowly sounding out words, we do not tell the children the sounds they need. Using their sound book to help them find the sound they need and what it looks like helps with their independence.

• Writing a recounting about what you have been up to at the weekend or that day.

• Writing about favourite part of a story.

• Retelling a story.

• Writing phase 3 captions.

• Writing a label about a model they have made.

• Writing instructions of how to make a tower/art activity/ their lunch.

Reception Maths challenge

Some ideas for maths challenges;

• Putting numbers in order to 20 and asking them to find 1 more and 1 less of a number.

• Finding pairs of numbers that add to make 5,6,7,8,9, 10. For example for 6 toys. Can they find different ways to put the 6 toys in 2 groups? 1 and 5, 2 and 4 etc. Can they then write the number sentence e.g. 1 + 5 = 6.

• Going on a shape hunt around the house.

• Can they double and half objects?

• Lots of fun maths games on this website.
