In our school all members of staff and governors ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of our pupils.
We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of ‘socially disadvantaged’ pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.
The government believes that the Pupil Premium Grant, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the educational differences between children in schools and promote progress.
We are committed to ‘Narrowing the Gap’ between vulnerable pupils and the Pupil Premium Grant forms a vital part of that process.
However, the Governors reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium Grant to support any pupil who has been identified by the school as socially disadvantaged.
‘It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.’ DfE
All our work through the Pupil Premium Grant will be aimed at accelerating progress, moving children to at least age related expectations. Initially this will be in Literacy and Numeracy. It may also be used to target able children who receive FSM to exceed end of key stage expectations.
